SOLDNAHADNAMA

laurakudia:

New Yorkers cut obscene rent checks each month. Since I’m barely home, it hurts to think how I’m basically paying for a large storage unit for my closet and bed. Between long hours at the office and a social life to boot, it’s critical to have that other bag in tow.

Yes, the other bag. We have our main purse, but I need that larger tote bag to carry those I’m-never-home-so-I-need-day-to-night pieces. Aldo recently launched a new line of “The Other Bag” for savvy girls on the go. Genius!

I’m strategic about the items in my other bag. Everything I pack helps get me through the day. I get to the office around 8:30 a.m. and anyone who’s lived and worked in New York knows to put your game face on before the subway commute. Also, I always pack my heels and change out of my flats once I’m at the desk. For the subway ride, I sport my Urbanears headsets, coffee cup and reading materials (a copy of Vogue from work and the Steve Jobs biography).

My makeup routine is fairly minimal since I’m awake before the sun rises. I’m good to go with one dollop of Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer and a swipe of Chanel’s classic Rouge Allure lipstick. A power red lip really brightens my face and gives the illusion that I actually spent time in the morning getting ready. These beauty products are great for touch-ups throughout the day and night.

I also like to keep various fashion accessories in my other bag. Since the weather lately in New York is unpredictable, I always keep my sunglasses with me at all times. And to give my outfits a bit of a punch, this J. Crew necklace is simple and goes with almost anything. One of my favorite accessories is a bracelet my boss recently gifted to everyone on our team when she traveled to Paris.

What’s in your other bag?

Follow along this week as I take you around New York City with my “other” bag or participate in your own Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #TOBbyALDO.

(Gifted totes for use in this campaign by Aldo and I was compensated for my participation in this campaign).

I have no idea how to introduce this post, so I’m skipping the first paragraph.

During rehearsal on Tuesday, it came to mind that I should see my throat doctor because something didn’t feel/sound right. I went in for a visit on Wednesday and a scope of my vocal cords revealed that the granuloma…

POLITICS! Does that term scare you? If it does, shame on you.

Everyone has the right to their own opinion. And I am not going to go into detail or go on a political rant about what is going on today in our country with the election ahead, but I am going to say this:

I may rant and rave all over my social networks about how much I may hate Republicans sometimes, and I may say nasty things… but at least I care about my rights, and what is going on within politics.

I cannot strive how much it bothers me, that so many people my age do not pay attention, nor care about politics. Just because they don’t want to “get involved”.

Here is something people should care about, especially WOMEN: This past weekend Rush Limbaugh (in my opinion) made one of the most DEGRADING statements about a woman from Georgetown.  He basically stated that she was aslut for wanting free birth control available for female students.  He also called her a prostitute after she stood up and testified in front of the House of Representatives.

Ladies. Basically… this man was stating that women who want to have safe protected sex, without getting pregnant are sluts and prostitutes? Does this not BOTHER YOU??

I think students especially and anyone for that matter of my generation needs to start paying attention to what is going on within our world.  I cannot tell you how many girls my age that I know, know NOTHING about politics or what is going on.

College students can be extremely influential during election time.  We are the future of our world, and our opinions do matter.  We need to understand what our government is doing/planning/changing.  They are the law, we are the people.

The greatest thing about it is that if we speak up as “the people” we can change the law.  Just freaking think about it.

OKAY I’M DONE RANTING.

Ladies, man up a bit.

There is nothing more that pisses me off, than women disrespecting and degrading themselves by posting insecure things all over their Facebook or Twitter.

Like, if you have to set your status as “moving on” or “I’m better than you.” or some shit like that, I guarantee you’re not over it, nor moving on.  Get better. At least fake that you’re not thinking about them non stop instead of polluting your craziness all over the place.
